Victor Osimhen double as Napoli closes in on Serie A title with win over Spezia

Osimhen was on target twice as Napoli moved closer to winning their first Serie A title in more than 30 years with a 3-0 home win over Spezia.

The Nigeria international scored either side of Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s strike as the league leaders extended their lead at the top of the table to 16 points with just nine games remaining.

Luciano Spalletti’s side has now won 21 of their 29 league games this season and has lost just twice, with their only defeat in 2023 coming at Inter Milan in January.

Mertens makes history for Galatasaray

In other Serie A action, Dries Mertens scored his 100th goal for Galatasaray in their 2-1 win over Çaykur Rizespor.

The Belgian forward, who joined the Turkish club from Napoli last summer, reached the milestone with a penalty in the 77th minute.

Mertens is now Galatasaray’s all-time leading scorer in the Süper Lig, surpassing Mustafa Denizli’s record of 99 goals.

Batshuayi on target for Fenerbahce

Michy Batshuayi scored the only goal of the game as Fenerbahce beat Adana Demirspor 1-0.

The Belgium international’s 18th-minute strike was enough to give Fenerbahce all three points and move them up to second in the table.

Fenerbahce is now just two points behind leaders Trabzonspor, who have a game in hand.
