Minnesota Takes 2-1 Lead
The Minnesota Timberwolves took a 2-1 lead in their Western Conference semifinal series against the Denver Nuggets with a 116-106 win on Tuesday night.
Karl-Anthony Towns led the way for Minnesota with 33 points and 15 rebounds, while Anthony Edwards added 26 points and D'Angelo Russell chipped in with 21 points. Nikola Jokic had another triple-double for Denver with 28 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Nuggets from falling behind 2-1 in the series.
The Timberwolves led by as many as 17 points in the third quarter, but the Nuggets fought back to cut the lead to 87-84 entering the fourth quarter. Minnesota was able to hold on in the fourth quarter, however, thanks to some timely shooting from Towns and Edwards.
The Nuggets will now need to win Game 4 on Thursday night in Denver to even the series. The Timberwolves will be looking to take a 3-1 lead and put the Nuggets on the brink of elimination.
